Cream butter and sugar; mix well. Add the egg, extract, vanilla, and salt; mix well. Add flour. Line mini muffin pan with petit cups. Place ¼ tsp. rounded dough into cup. Place paste on top. Top paste with ½ tsp. rounded piece of dough. Press top even in cup and sprinkle with red or green sugar. Bake at 400 degrees for 6 – 8 minutes. Tops should be light brown.
